We founded The Drama Centre in 2017, and from one small class, we have grown to over 25 classes a week, across Essex and London.

Our classes are located in:

Chelmsford

Over the next few years, we will see our classes spread across the UK. We offer high quality, fun and inclusive classes.

So why did we start The Drama Centre?

Founder Leanne Johnson, who trained as a professional actor and Public Speaker, says,

‘When I was young, my passion was Drama. I loved it. I wasn’t so keen on the singing on the dancing, but Acting was my passion. But unfortunately for me, there was no where that focussed purely on this. So I felt like I missed out. So when I had the opportunity to start my own company, I was doing it for the 9 year old child in me. I wanted to create a safe, nurturing space for students to explore Acting, Drama and Public Speaking. It wasn’t my intention to pile pressure on students, they have enough of that already, but to enable them to succeed, learn and grow as performers at their own pace. And the results speak for themselves, our students have secured places at The National Youth Theatre, Oxford and Cambridge University, have reached the finals in the Jack Petchey Speaking Awards, received amazing LAMDA examination results, but more importantly than all of that, have acquired a self confidence and belief in themselves and developed amazing communication skills which will be so important to help them succeed in life beyond The Drama Centre.

We are so proud of our achievements over the last 6 years. We believe drama, acting and public speaking are fundamentals that every student should have access to, because although many of our students don’t choose to become actors or speakers, those vital life skills they come away with will enable them to succeed and excel in whichever path they take.’
